5 Life Lessons from Waterfalls

There is just something about the sound of the water, the seamless movement of the stream and the splash of water to the skin.

Studies found that negative ions from the waterfalls increase the flow of oxygen to our brain, which improves alertness and our mental energy. It also increases our serotonin level which also improves our mood.

Other than that, here are 5 life lessons from waterfalls.

1. Time doesn’t stop, so shouldn’t you

Every drop of the water never stop moving. It will always move forward despite the rocks and other obstacles. Even if it is blocked, there is always another way to move forward.

So is time.

And the water knows that.

In life, we were all given a limited amount of time to be on this earth. Do we want to stay in the same spot/safe zone, or do we want to keep moving forward to see what’s ahead of us?

2. Go with the flow

There are something in life that you can’t control.

The water and the living things in the stream know that.

If it goes against the tide, not only that will take a lot of effort and power, but it has to eventually give up to the flow anyway.

Sometimes things don’t end up like how we imagined. But we can find a way to make it work.

3. Nurture others

Wherever the waterfalls are, there are always green and happy trees and plants near by.

All the ferns are just happy to be near the splash of water that gives them life and nourishes them.

Consequently, waterfalls attract other beautiful and healthy plants around them, creating an oasis-like magical ecosystem in the area. One way to change the world.

4. Don’t sweat small stuff

The sound of the waterfalls is made from billions drops of water, just like the thoughts in our head.

We have tons of thought in our mind throughout the day, week or month.

Sometimes we let one negative thought paralyse us from being the best version of ourselves. When in fact, it is just one tiny thought out of thousands of thoughts we have daily.

It is probably won’t mean anything in a week or month.

Don’t let any small thought hold you back.

5. Think about the end goal

It often takes some amount of time and distance to get to the falls, whether you are a human or water.

If you are heading to the waterfalls, chances are you know where it is and how long it is going to take.

Yet here you are at the starting point because you know that you can make the trip.

Throughout the journey, especially for a long-walk, you might have a second thought if the trail is too long or hard, whether you should just turn around and go back.

But you know that if you turn around now, all those time and efforts will be wasted.

Luckily, and hopefully, you know that you are on the right track and that the magical waterfalls is waiting for you at the end of the journey.

As you get closer, you can hear the sound of the stream. You can sense the the humidity.

And finally, appearing ahead of you, a magnificent stream of water splashing down from the sky. The sound of it is too loud that all your thoughts are washed away.

And you will be in a bubble where nothing else matters. You know you have made it and the reward is totally worth it.

In life, if you want to be somewhere, you need to know where you are going first.

You need to figure out a way to get there or ask others that have been there.

It makes things easier when you have a clear vision and idea on how you are going to get there.

Being with waterfalls is where my safe zone is. I feel recharged and refreshed.

I guess it is the same feeling for someone who likes to take a long shower?
